Bill Brew got off to a flying start, and not just because the locations already met all the food inspection requirements. The people of Hamburg were immediately well-received with their creations: real Hamburg beer with Franconian charm seems to have struck a chord, at least the first bottles sold like hotcakes. After Hamburger Prater was sold out in no time, the team quickly followed up with Hamburger Keller.
This Nordic cellar beer was created by hobby brewer Bernd, who is nicknamed Hopload because of his passion. He created a fine recipe with Munich malt and the Hallertauer Tradition and Perle hops, which Bill Brew promptly launched on a larger scale.
Hamburger Keller presents itself in an almost clear sun gold in the glass and is crowned with a cap of ivory-colored foam. A malty scent wafts around the nose and entices you to take a sip. The first sip is also grainy, then notes of creamy caramel, spicy honey, roasted nuts and forest herbs gradually join in. A subtly seasoned bitterness completes the overall picture. Bill Brew’s Hamburger Keller is a modern interpretation of a down-to-earth, Franconian cellar beer and delights with its extremely drinkable character and round aroma. As always, the copies are strictly limited, so if you want to try it, you have to be quick.
