Abt 12 is a brew from St. Bernardus that regularly beats thousands of other beers in international comparison. The Quadrupel is the flagship of the Belgian brewery and has been brewed using the same proven recipe for more than 75 years. The in-house yeast used for fermentation gives the fine wine the finishing touch. The golden boy brings an impressive 10.0% alcohol content into the glass and always captivates the judges of renowned competitions with its complex taste and dark aroma.
The strong beer flows from the bottle in an opaque mahogany tone and shimmers ruby red when the light hits it. Its foam head is hazelnut brown in color and has a creamy, velvety consistency. An olfactory bouquet of caramel, dried plums, roasted malt and cocoa entices you to drink it. The taste test reveals a full body with powerful sweetness, which is punctuated by a pointed bitterness. Silky-soft notes of dates, rum-pickled raisins, delicately melting chocolate, brown sugar, roasted grains and robust pumpernickel ensnare the palate with culinary fireworks. The skilled brewers managed to achieve the perfect balance between sweetness, bitterness and full-bodied malt richness.
If you want to intensify the powerful taste even further, you can store this beer in the bottle for up to four years.
