The world-famous Guiness brewery from Ireland has dedicated an extra brewery to the development of new beers: In St. James’s Gate Brewery, expert brewers experiment with ingredients, recipes and brewing styles to create innovative creations. The long-established brewery is proud of its extensive tradition and still wants to keep up with the times. In addition to their classics like the Guiness Extra Stout, there is a lot of fresh air on the beer shelf!
The result of the current efforts led to a top-class warehouse: Hop House 13. A deep, complex beer is brewed from Irish malt, the unique, in-house yeast and a mixture of highly aromatic American and Australian hops, which is sophisticated and refreshing at the same time. Hop House 13 is a surprising, double-hopped lager that inspires with its gorgeous look down to the last drop.
When the bottle is opened, a fine scent of floral hops and feathery citrus notes fills the nose, where it combines with a subtle hint of apricot and peach. In the glass, the warehouse is presented in a deep dark amber tone. A small, fine head of foam completes the beautiful appearance and makes you want to take the first sip. The initial taste reveals a light-footed beer with earthy malt tones and a delicate acidity of green apples. The hops contribute a wonderfully fresh citrus palette and also give the beer a crunchy bitterness that increases nicely from the initial taste to the finish. The dry body is accompanied by a fruity sweetness and shows small notes of honey, ripe pears, sun-ripened cereals and sour summer berries. A pleasant carbon dioxide accompanies the drinking pleasure.
By the way, the name of the beer refers to the Hop House: The warehouse was built in the early 20th century and housed the fine hops from which the delicious Guinness beer was brewed at St. James’s Gate. We recommend the Irish specialty with delicious grilled meat, Mediterranean vegetables and chocolate desserts.
