According to the Spanish brewery Damm, its lager Daura is the gluten-free beer with the most awards in the world.
More and more people are consciously deciding against consuming products containing gluten or for health reasons. Beer is generally not gluten-free and is therefore one of the foods that gluten refusers have to avoid. Fortunately, there are more and more breweries that have recognized the growing need for gluten-free beers and are meeting the increasing demand with excellent beers that are completely gluten-free. Barcelona-based Damm Brewery is one of these breweries and boasts its award-winning Daura lager.
The gluten-free beer flows into the glass in a radiant gold tone and shimmers in wonderful amber colors. The clear drink is brought to life by a sparkling carbon dioxide and crowned by a small, fine-pored foam. A malty scent of creamy caramel, warm bread dough and light malt rises from the white crown. The hops deliver a fine nose of citrus and summer flowers. The initial taste reveals a fresh, malty body with fine acidity. Sun-ripened grain meets soft caramel and gently roasted malt on the tongue. The hops contribute the aromas of freshly mown grass and juicy citrus fruits to the aromatics and give the beer a summery lightness.
Subtly bitter, pleasantly sweet and subtly sour, the Daura Lager is a delicately balanced composition and extremely drinkable.
