We have to admit: there are more exciting beer styles than Pilsner. Brews that shine with finesse and elaborate techniques, containing not only hops and malt but also beetroot, chilies, or gingerbread, dry-hopped to the brim, or aged for years in oak barrels. The craft beer movement has flooded the market with many exciting creations, but hardly any style is as uncompromising as Pilsner. Every step has to be perfect, every decision carefully considered, every ingredient perfectly balanced with the others, so that in the end a fresh, crisp, straightforward, and easy-drinking Pilsner emerges. In this genre, you can’t hide behind excessive amounts of hops, flashy ingredients, or pretentious techniques. You either succeed, or you don’t.
Garage Beer’s Pilsner is a resounding success. Their German-style Pilsner, Riba, was conceived with meticulous care and brewed using traditional methods and the finest ingredients. After much experimentation, the Barcelona-based brewery found the perfect recipe, drawing inspiration from the crisp, clean Pilsners of northern Germany. The brewing water was adapted to meet North German quality standards and blended with Pilsner malt from Bamberg. The German hop varieties Hallertauer Mittelfrüh, Tettnang, and Saphir create a symphony of meadow herbs, floral notes, lemon zest, and a hint of mandarin orange. Riba is crisp, refreshing, wonderfully aromatic, and delicately bitter.
