The beer that started it all.
Like many breweries, Hamburg's Ratsherrn also has a signature brew that has brought them fame, fame, and success. Ratsherrn Pilsener dates back to the 1950s, when it was still brewed at the Elbschloss Brewery. Even back then, Hamburg residents enjoyed its clear, straightforward, and bitter flavor. This enthusiasm continues to this day—despite its period of decline. In 2010, the classic was revived, and today it's so popular that they've even developed a non-alcoholic version .
The original Ratsherrn Pilsener is now brewed in-house at the Schanzenhöfe, along with the other beers in the core range. This popular brew flows into the glass in a crystal-clear, sun-gold hue, completing its enticing appearance with a crown of crisp, airy foam. A fresh, floral nose invites you to sample it. The first sip reveals a feather-light body with a pronounced hop character and a pleasant 4.9% alcohol content. The varieties used—Herkules, Saphir, Select, and Tradition—conjure up a bouquet of tangy fruit, freshly mown grass, tart herbs, and green umbels. The crisp 31 bitterness units provide contrast and a harmonious bitterness that lingers long after the last sip.
