The barracuda is a predatory fish that can grow up to two meters long and is known for its temperament. Anything that flashes and sparkles entices this sea creature to attack, and there are reports of it sinking its sharp teeth into the flesh of unsuspecting people splashing around in the water. This fast predator has sharp, large teeth in its lower jaw and usually uses them to take down smaller fish. This giant fish can be found in the tropics as well as in the Mediterranean, the Atlantic, and the Pacific. A school was even recently spotted in Prague, but this time it consisted of magnificent specimens of a completely different nature: these powerful, blue-clad creatures were developed by the Czech brewery Sibeeria and stun their prey with a powerful bitterness and a massive 10% alcohol content.
Sibeeria's Brutal Barracuda draws inspiration from the roots of the India Pale Ale and aims to revive the style's classic American origins with dizzying r.p., abundant hops, and a decent amount of bitterness. The team finds contemporary European IPAs too mild and counters this trend with an impressive brew.
Their flavorful Triple Brut IPA flows into the glass an almost clear gold color and smells of citrus freshness. The extremely dry palate is composed of intense fruit notes, vibrant citrus, hints of white wine, spicy pine resin, and green hop cones. The edgy bitterness is the icing on the cake.
