The historic Grätzer beer style—also known by its Polish name, Grodziskie—is a traditional Polish specialty. This pale, light smoked beer is traditionally brewed with oak-smoked malt and boasts a lively effervescence, a feathery body, and delicate smoky notes. It takes its name from its city of origin, Grodzisk. The Moon Lark brewery takes this now-rare style and gives it a modern twist with Garden.
This beer was created in collaboration with the Spoko Pub. This pub is a popular destination for craft beer fans thanks to its vibrant beer culture, its good selection of exceptional draft beers, and its friendly, unpretentious atmosphere. Together, the pub and brewery have created a Session Smoky Wheat Beer (a light and fluffy smoked wheat beer) that combines tradition with creative hop craftsmanship.
In the glass, Garden glows a pale citrus yellow and is crowned with a creamy, snow-white head. On the nose, subtle smoky notes blend with the characteristic aromas of Sorachi Ace hops: delicate hints of fresh herbs, citrus freshness, grapefruit, and a touch of coconut. The initial sip is lively and dances tinglingly on the tongue thanks to the strong carbonation. The smoke is clearly noticeable, but harmoniously integrated, leaving plenty of room for the fresh hop aromas. Herbs and citrus fruits give the beer a modern character, which culminates in a strong bitterness and a distinctive finish.
