The golden city of El Dorado is the basis of countless legends and was the incentive for many adventurers to leave their homeland in search of it. Scientists and adventurers have made the pilgrimage to South America to discover the legendary city of gold. Fame, honor and inestimable fortune beckons in the depths of South America.
Today it is assumed that the indigenous population did not see El Dorado as a legendary place, but rather as an incredibly wealthy ruler. According to South American myths, El Dorado was a king who doused himself with pure gold in the morning and washed it off in a sacred lake every evening.
The Estonian brewery Lehe follows the original legend and has created a beer in honor of the golden king. El Rey Dorado is a double cold-hopped India Pale Ale with 6.5% alcohol content, which pays homage to the golden king with rich hop aromas. The DDH IPA flows into the glass in a deep gold tone and is adorned with a small crown of white foam. A bouquet of fresh hop aromas rises in the nose, tropical fruits and a hint of pine needles are particularly dominant. The initial taste reveals a finely balanced beer that caresses the palate with notes of green hop, white grapefruit, juicy orange, pineapple and apple. Spicy pine resin and a gentle bitterness complete the taste.
