With their big eyes, fluffy plumage and slightly worried facial expressions, owls look very cute. Despite their cute appearance, these nocturnal birds should not be underestimated: owls have a lot of patience when lurking, can fly as fast as an arrow and silently, have sharp eyes that can see well even in the dark, and powerful fangs that can catch all kinds of prey.
The Dutch brewery Uiltje not only has the owl in its name (“uiltje” means something like “little owl” in German), but also in its logo. The white owl with a beak and claws in bright orange can be found on each can in a different disguise and is even the title hero of this juicy India Pale Ale: Uiltje has developed Bird of Prey based on the predatory nature of the owl. This title can be translated as “bird of prey” and tells us about the feathered owl hero in a small comic strip.
Behind the savior in the cape and mask is a composition of two malts and four different hops. While the grain creates a stable base and provides the silky-soft texture, the hop varieties Chinook, Glacier, Mosaic and Simcoe contribute a fruity firework that is underlined by a straightforward, clear bitterness.
