Bamberg is a city with many faces. Its historic old town has been declared a World Heritage Site and its magnificent half-timbered houses are perfect for strolling. A magnificent cathedral with four towers and an incomparable mix of Romanesque and Gothic architecture forms the center of the old town, where there are numerous other churches and chapels. Bamberg is also a traditional gardening town, theater, basketball, university, culture and beer city. Every year, countless events take place in various areas and there are just over a dozen museums. Vacationers are attracted by the city’s millennia-old history and appreciate the old town with its narrow streets, the manageable city center with its shops and cafés, the parks, the quaint pubs and the good beer that comes from the city’s almost ten breweries.
One of Bamberg’s oldest breweries is Fässla. This brewery has been brewing beer since the middle of the 17th century. The brewery’s most famous beer is Zwergla , but the lager and the infamous Bambergator are also very popular. We like to drink all three brews from Fässla, but our secret favorite is Fässla Helle: this well-rounded drink impresses with its exquisite balance, velvety-soft mouthfeel and the tasty combination of floral hops and hearty malt.
