David Hertl of the Hertl Brewery is known for three things: his loud, infectious laugh, his big heart, and his love of experimentation. This cheerful Franconian lives his life with humor, and you often hear him laughing long before you see him. He runs a small but fine family brewery and counts everyone who comes and goes from the farm daily as part of his family. And he's not afraid of anything: the craziest ingredients (cucumbers! hemp! juniper!) have found their way into his kettles, and with his deft hand, David conjures up true delicacies.
Now he's proving his skills once again, welcoming new apprentice Kevin into his family circle with a wild creation. Kevin's beer-infused welcome is called Kiwi Kevin, a Pastry Sour Ale enhanced with the hairy, bright green fruits.
This fruity sour beer is brewed with kiwi puree and lactose and shines with wonderful acidity, abundant fruit, and a creamy sweetness. The beer presents itself in a rich, golden color in the glass and is adorned with a head of delicate white foam. Kiwi Kevin is a light-as-a-feather delight, combining fruity freshness with a playful kiwi note and mild acidity. Just the right beer to round off the summer!
