When we think about wheat beer as an accompaniment to a meal, the first thing that springs to mind is the most traditional of all combinations: in Bavaria, hearty white sausages are served not only with sweet, grainy mustard, a little parsley, pretzels and butter, but also with a glass of fine wheat beer. The tangy, fruity and spicy character of the brew elegantly counteracts the fatty weight of the sausage and is refreshing. But the brew also goes well with other dishes. We like to drink wheat beer when we have a snack with sourdough bread from the stone oven, cheese, sausage with music and pickles, and we reach for it when we make cheese spaetzle. The freshness of the beer balances out the heaviness and heartiness of the food wonderfully. But the wheat beer can also be combined with lighter dishes such as salads and poultry or with desserts.
A real all-rounder !
As a Franconian brewery, Brauhaus Binkert from Breitengüßbach cannot escape the dictates of Bavarian beers and of course also has a wheat beer in its range. The Binkert version presents itself in a warm honey gold with a fluffy head in the glass and refreshes body and soul with an exquisite composition of spicy yeast, tropical fruits, floral notes and a hint of clove. A finely sparkling carbonic acid enlivens the unfiltered beer and adds a cheerful effervescence.
