Pilsner is a beer style that originated in the Czech Republic and spread around the world. With its straightforward character, subtle tartness, and crisp bitterness, it appeals to a wide range of beer lovers and pairs well with a variety of foods. Pilsner isn't a particularly challenging, exciting, or explosive style, but it has its own unique charm that has captivated people for almost 200 years, ensuring that it remains relevant and can be found in the product ranges of most breweries around the world.
The Paderborn brewery has launched a Westphalian interpretation: its Paderborn Pilsener is made from particularly smooth water, hand-picked hops and robust malt and scores with fresh effervescence, mild spiciness and a slightly bitter aftertaste.
This classic beer flows into the glass in a bright, sunny yellow, capped by a fine-pored head of white foam on a crystal-clear, glossy body. A bouquet of freshly mown grass, gently roasted grain, and honey wafts across the nose, enticing the palate. On the palate, the pilsner presents itself with a medium body and crisp freshness: a soft malt base meets herbs, grassy hops, a hint of citrus peel, a powerful bitterness, and a dry, lingering finish.
