Tully Cross is a tiny little village in the northwest of Ireland. Not far from town is the breathtaking coastline with extensive beaches, rugged cliffs and the wild waters of the North Atlantic Ocean. When you’re not spending your time by the sea, you can take a look at the church or head to one of the two pubs for a cozy pint. The Connemara Mussel Festival takes place once a year and attracts countless mussel-hungry visitors, but otherwise things are quite tranquil here.
We’ve never been to Tully Cross, but we like to drink the beer of the same name. However, the barrel-aged Rum Bock does not come from the stormy Irish coast at all, but from Upper Franconia. The Brauhaus am Kreuzberg has a soft spot for Ireland and has a whole range of Irish-inspired products in its range.
Tully Cross is one of them and, in addition to Irish flair, brings a whopping 11.0% alcohol content and a shimmering ruby-red copper gold with an ivory-colored foam veil into the glass. The scent of oven-fresh bread with hints of vanilla, roasted malt and rum-pickled raisins fills your nose. The initial taste goes in the same direction and presents us with a symphony of full-bodied grain, creamy honey, toffee, spicy yeast, wood, candied fruit and vanilla rum.
