Bamberg-based Blech.Brut brewery isn’t exactly known for its gentle brews, but the craft beer wizards recently released Mirror Mellow, revealing a whole new side to their craft beer. The team, which usually handles incredible quantities of hops, conjures up dizzying levels of bitterness, and creates brews that are simply intense, presents us with a wonderful New England IPA that’s mild in more than just its name.
Mirror Mellow brings a velvety composition of densely clouded apricot gold to the glass, crowned with a head of white, fine-pored foam. A tantalizing trio of citrus zest, tropical fruits, and summer meadow flowers tickles the nose and whets the appetite for the first sip. The first sip reveals a silky-smooth texture that caresses the palate with notes of sun-drenched citrus and ripe exotic fruit. Floral notes and a not-too-overly bitterness skillfully round out the enjoyment. The impressive 6.8% alcohol content is surprising, as it is so well integrated into the flavor profile that it is barely noticeable while drinking.
Blech-Brut’s New England IPA Mirror Mellow is an extremely well-crafted craft beer that impresses with aromatic intensity, textural richness, and perfectly balanced flavor nuances. Smooth, yet powerful!
