In the craft beer industry, collaborations are more than just the simple cooperation of two or more breweries; they are a part of the culture. The beer scene has always been a tough business. Small, independent breweries have to compete with the low prices of industrially produced beers. Moreover, in times of financial instability and recession, luxury goods and unnecessary indulgences are among the first to be cut. Competition is fierce, and every brewery fights for survival. In the craft beer industry, most are in the same boat, and yet—or perhaps precisely because of this—great value is placed on collegiality and a strong community. Brewmasters around the world network, support each other, exchange experiences, recipes, and raw materials, meet at trade fairs and conventions, drink together, and brew together. Collaboration instead of competition!
Leading the way and championing this honorable principle are the breweries Blech.Brut from Germany and Bereta Brewing from Romania. These friendly teams have joined forces for a collaborative brew: aptly named Nobody Knows More About Collabs Than We Do, it’s a smooth, almost viscous sour beer packed with fruit. Fresh purée of pineapple, pumpkin, raspberry, and papaya, along with a hint of cinnamon, create a beery smoothie so fruity it almost feels healthy. Pure fruit!
