The lion in the coat of arms of the Zum Löwenbräu brewery from Neuhaus near Adelsdorf is not only the mascot and namesake of the company, it can also be found in the title of many of its beers. One of these brewing symbols is the Fest Löwe. The Wirth family designed this festival beer for the special moments in life. They themselves reach for it when a week has gone particularly well, when they welcome a new beer to the range or a new grandchild into the family, when there is an anniversary, a birthday to celebrate, or when they have had a hard day and need a little encouragement.
The Fest Löwe flows into the glass in a promising amber gold and piles up a magnificent crown of slightly tinted foam on the opaque body. A potpourri of freshly baked bread, spicy malt, dark caramel and delicate wild herbs fills the air and promises delicious enjoyment. The first sip is full-bodied and lies softly on the tongue with a silky texture. Notes of sun-ripened grain, bread spice, creamy toffee and candied nuts enchant the palate. A floral and subtly fruity bitterness underlines the malt-accented play of aromas and ends the beer pleasure with a dry finish.
The Zum Löwenbräu brewery has created a fabulous festival beer that scores with its drinkable character, great spiciness and subtle balance.
