While ordinary people meet like-minded individuals at festivals, with whom they then go to concerts or share a beer, brewmasters at such events meet people with whom they will brew together in the future. Fortunately for all of us, the ladies and gentlemen from breweries around the world get an itch to brew as soon as they meet. This inescapable creative urge ensures that the international beer scene is teeming with collaborative brews.
One such brew is Soundscapes. The Garage Beer and Finback breweries joined forces for their third collaboration this year at the MASH beer festival, creating a powerful Double IPA. This festive brew packs a punch with an impressive 8.5% ABV, which it balances with an equally powerful flavor profile. Soundscapes pours an opaque peach-gold into the glass, crowned with a fine-pored, snow-white head. An olfactory fruit basket of strawberry, melon, and tropical fruits tickles the nose. The palate is much the same: red berries, strawberry, exotic fruits, ripe melon, and a hint of pine resin coat the taste buds with a velvety smoothness. The hefty 8.5% ABV contributes a pleasant warmth that dangerously enhances its drinkability.
Soundscapes is a successful example of American-Spanish collaboration, and we hope that the breweries will join forces again next year!
