In its "Echoes of Time" series, the French brewery Blue Coast dedicates itself to the noble art of barrel aging – and with its Porto Tawny variant, creates a beer with remarkable character. Matured in former tawny port barrels, this imperial stout not only absorbs the aroma of the wine but also its soul.
Tawny ports are characterized by long barrel aging and exhibit complex aromas of dried fruits, nuts, caramel, and wood. Their mouthfeel is silky smooth, with hints of melting chocolate and vanilla rounding out the flavor profile. This palette of full-bodied notes and the luxurious elegance of port wine are also reflected in the beer.
Echos of Porto Time Tawny flows into the glass in opaque mahogany and is crowned with a fleeting veil of hazelnut-brown foam. Intense notes of cherry, berries, and homemade jam dominate the nose. A subtle woody note hints at the barrel aging. The beer caresses the palate with a velvety smoothness and is reminiscent of a fine dessert wine on the palate. A creamy foundation of roasted grains unfolds a diverse range of aromas: ripe red fruits, robust wine, dark chocolate, and a hint of vanilla dance on the tongue, while the 12% alcohol content warms the body and soul. Echos of Time Porto Tawny is an impressive beer experience with complexity, depth, and a voluminous character that captivates connoisseurs and laypeople alike.
