The Lithuanian word putoja means something like foam or foaming. It is often used in the context of beer, which is why the Sakiškių alus brewery chose this very term as the title for its international craft beer festival. On one weekend a year, around 30 breweries from all over Europe gather under the Sakiškių alus umbrella to present their creations. People flock to Sakiškių kaimas from near and far to sample the exhibitors’ delicious brews. The festival is a boozy affair and is used by many brewers to present new beers. The host has also brewed a brew especially for the occasion: their Double Dry Hopped India Pale Ale is appropriately named Putoja! and appeared in time for the festival in 2022.
The DDH IPA is made from an incredible six different hops. The carefully coordinated varieties create a complex, multi-layered overall picture that is characterized by a solid bitterness, strong resin notes and an abundance of juicy fruit notes.
The copper-golden beer is crowned with a fleeting veil of foam and smells refreshingly fruity. The drinking pleasure starts with big resin tones and then leads elegantly to the fruitier part, which tastes of tangy grapefruit and tart orange marmalade.
Sakiškių alus DDH IPA Putoja! is juicy, sweet, sour, bitter and simply delicious!
