Radler or not – that's the question we'd like to answer here. It's clear that many beer connoisseurs don't really consider radlers to be beer, and the mix of beer and lemonade is therefore frowned upon in some circles. However, we think we shouldn't be quite so strict here. Most radlers are at least half fine beer and combine our all-time favorite drink with sparkling lemonade made from lemons or other citrus fruits. That doesn't sound bad, especially when it's hot outside!
We enjoy a well-chilled shandy on days when we're already sweating before 8 a.m., when the lake exerts a magical attraction on us, our lunch consists of ice cream, and we call it a day by 3 p.m. at the latest. On these occasions, we reach for something like the Fürst Wallerstein shandy: This thirst quencher is made from the refreshing export beer and a crisp, sour lemonade. The latter is sugar-free and, thanks to its fruity acidity and delicate sweetness, harmonizes beautifully with the subtle bitterness of the beer.
The shandy presents itself as a crystal-clear, sun-gold color and even forms a small crown. It has a feather-light 2.6% alcohol content and tastes lemony, beautifully tart, and very fresh.
