In the Western world, the anticipation of Christmas is staggered by small holidays in the calendar: the countdown to Christmas Eve begins with the first Advent, which often falls in late November. This Sunday ends autumn and heralds the winter season with homemade cookies, the first candle on the Advent wreath and Christmas decorations. The second milestone is December 1st. On the morning of this day we are allowed to open the first little door in the advent calendar and start the official Christmas month. From here it’s only 24 days until the festival. But that was by no means the last highlight before the gifts were given: three more Sundays in Advent and the sixth of December follow. This day is dedicated to St. Nicholas and for many children it is a kind of pre-Christmas because they are given small presents and chocolate.

To make your morning magical, we recommend the fine Nikolaus beer from the Höchstadt brewery. You can put that in your boots, put it in the fridge in the morning on the 6th and make a little pre-gift in the evening.
