In addition to their conventional India Pale Ales, the Canadian brewery Steamworks has a very special example of this beer style in its range: With its powerful, bold and challenging character, its Cold IPA is reminiscent of the glamor of bygone eras and combines everything you love about IPAs in a great beer . The special feature of this variant of the IPA is that it is cold fermented and fermented with a special yeast. The result is cleaner, crisper and even hoppy than the normal India Pale Ale. In addition to the technology, the numbers also speak for themselves: Steamworks Cold IPA brings a whopping 7.1% alcohol content and an impressive amount of 80 bitterness units to the table. The Wuchtbrumme is brewed with three types of grain and refined with the four hop varieties Pahto Extract, Idaho 7, YCH CryoPop and Columbus.
The end result presents itself in a bright golden blond in the glass and is only very slightly clouded. A magnificent crown of snow-white, fine-pored foam sits enthroned on the beer and secretes an olfactory symphony of oven-fresh bread, fragrant pine resin and ripe melon. This hoppy first impression continues in the initial taste: the base tastes of light malt and biscuits, before the hops take over and take over with big notes of herbs, grass, pine and citrus fruits. A strong bitterness completes the play of aromas.
