In David Hertl's idyllic family life, one person is indispensable: Grandma! After the creative brewmaster David Hertl from Schlüsselfeld dedicated a beer to each member of his family, a beer for Grandma Edeltraut was a must, of course. The brewer, who always relies on his father's wisdom, runs a family business straight out of a storybook. Everyone is involved and helps out wherever they can. As a small reward, Grandpa's darling David honored his loved ones with fitting beers. Now, his mother's sunshine has also dedicated himself to his grandma and created a beer that suits her strong character: Grandma's Bedtime Treat is an intensely aromatic amber bock with a potent 6.5% alcohol content and a whole lot of flavor. The beer's equivalent to Grandma Edeltraut pours into the glass a dark golden amber and shimmers magnificently in all shades of copper red when the light hits it. A slightly tinted head of dense, thick foam crowns the beer and exudes an aroma that is hard to resist. On the nose, notes of freshly toasted bread mingle with caramel-sweet malt, spicy blossom honey, ripe forest berries, and a hoppy hint of citrus. The first sip reveals a robust body with finely balanced aromas of soft malt, creamy toffee, tart orange marmalade, and toasted brioche. Towards the finish, the bock becomes slightly more bitter and drier, and the hops shine with notes of herbs and clean grass. With this little treat on our pillows, we'd gladly hop off to bed!
