Gardens are green spaces that are more or less cultivated. There are English gardens, boasting manicured lawns, well-tended flowerbeds, magnificent roses, and neat gravel paths. There are cottage gardens that offer flowering perennials as well as useful plants, or apothecary gardens that focus on growing medicinal plants. There are wild, natural gardens, allotments, and gardens that invite you to linger, climb trees, or have a barbecue. The garden we would like to introduce to you here is of a culinary nature and was created by Cierzo Brewing. Their tasty green space is called Octopus's Garden and provides us with the fruits of barley and the hop varieties Bru-1, Citra, and Sabro.
Octopus's Garden is a Hazy Double India Pale Ale with a brisk 8.0% alcohol content and a stunning 50 bitterness units that defy the fruity exuberance. The brew flows into the glass in a densely cloudy egg-yolk yellow and is crowned with a hand's breadth of white, airy foam. A tropical aroma entices the first sip, impressively continuing the juicy first impression. Mango, passion fruit, and pineapple are the dominant notes; the blend of barley, wheat, and oats merely contributes a wonderfully creamy, velvety body.
Richly fruity, resinous bitter and so drinkable – if any garden is worth a visit, then it's Octopus's Garden!
