We love summer not only for its endless sunshine, the comforting warmth on bare skin, the scent of sunscreen, the balmy evenings in the beer garden, and its carefree spirit. The fruits of this bright season also bring us great joy. Deep red cherries straight from the tree, juicy watermelon, sticky-sweet peaches, crisp-tart rhubarb, and delicious berries are our daily happiness in June, July, and August. Autumn brings a spectacular end to the fruity tidal wave of summer before the selection of fruit—at least the more regional varieties—shrinks abruptly. Jams, frozen fruit, juices, and preserves console us for the loss, but our favorite consolation prize is fruity beers. The combination of robust barley brew and fresh fruit brings a smile to our faces even in the depths of winter and provides a few moments of summery exuberance.

The Spanish brewery Garage Beer has a wonderful fruit beer in its range, which brings summer into the glass with the aromas of freshly harvested raspberries and exotic passion fruit – regardless of whether it is 30 or 3 degrees outside.

Their copper-red P9 brew combines gentle malt with robust fruit acidity, soft sweetness, and pronounced raspberry and passion fruit notes. The fabulous creation is affectionately dubbed Barcelona Weisse by the brewery, and it is exactly that: Spanish flair with a smooth, drinkable character, fruity freshness, and a touch of the exotic.
