The Dutch province of Limburg is a paradise for fruit fans: there are countless apple and pear trees in extensive meadows, which are a real feast for the eyes all year round. In spring they give the landscape a magical look with their lush, white flowers. In summer millions of fruits flourish on their gnarled branches and in autumn they bend under their magnificent, red-cheeked burden.
The fruit used to make Pomme Saison also comes from Limburg’s orchards. The brew from Gebrouwen Door Vrouwen is brewed by expert female hands and presents us with the culinary magic of apples and pears. In order to stay true to their concept, the brewers looked for a woman-run fruit farm and came across Susanne and her tasty fruits. Susanne’s harvest then became a Belgian Saison, which combines the fruity sweetness and acidity of apple and pear with soft malt and a hint of hops.
Their Pomme Saison is a fruity delight with sparkling carbonation and a dry character that goes perfectly with homemade apple pie. Because the beer is both sweet and sour, it also goes well with Asian cuisine. The brewers recommend Korean dishes with kimchi. We also like this fine wine wonderfully on its own!
